The EJTN Administrative Law Portfolio foresees the implementation of two distinct webinars in September 2021 on two relevant topics for Administrative Judges:
Migration Law and Civil Liability of Public Authorities under European Law.
EJTN NCPs are called to disseminate the following information:
a)The webinar on Migration Law (AD/2021/12) is scheduled on the 14th of September at 10.00 am Brussels time for 2h and 30 minutes as follows:
- 15 minutes introduction
- 45 minutes presentation
- 30 minutes for questions and answers
- 1 hour case study analysis
The goal of this webinar on Migration Law is to provide participants with knowledge and insight on the Long-Term Residence Directive (2003/109).
Due to the analysis of a case study foreseen in the programme of this event, the selection of candidates is made by EJTN members and candidates are uploaded by the NCPs on the EJTN Online System for Participants (OSP) by the 3rd of September.
The expert involved in the project is Mr Diego Acosta , Professor at the University of Bristol – UK, who collaborated with the Secretariat to structure the format of the event.
b)The webinar on Civil Liability of Public Authorities under European Law (AD/2021/13) is scheduled on the 21st of September at 10.00 am Brussels time for 1h and 30 minutes as follows:
- 15 minutes introduction
- 45 minutes presentation
- 30 minutes for questions and answers
This webinar will focus on the European regime of civil liability of Public Authorities. The Court of Justice of the European Union has indeed developed a general principle of state liability for damages due to non-compliance with EU law.
This webinar follows the structure of “free registration events”. By the 16th of September, interested participants can register directly on the EJTN Online System of Participants (OSP) via the link here.
Registered participants will receive the link to access the respective webinar room via e-mail by the 20th of September 2021.
The expert involved in this project is Mr Rui Tavares Lanceiro, Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, Portugal.

Content outline : In the vocabulary of judicial cooperation, there are frequent metaphors that conceptualize abstract notions with desirable images based on living beings and on tangible objects (especially instruments, buildings, areas and structures), or portraying cooperation as a journey where progress is either the only acceptable option or a weapon in a fight against cross- border crime.
Our presentation will offer an overview of these metaphors and the effects they produce among addressees, creating a favourable image of cooperation.
