  1. New free online course – From Theory to Practice: Applying the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU

Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies at KU Leuven (Belgium), with the support of the European Commission, has launched a massive open online course on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. The course covers all 50 Charter rights through focused 30-minute modules. It explains when the Charter applies, how its rights are interpreted by the courts, and how fundamental rights can be mainstreamed in legislation and policymaking, including through fundamental rights impact assessments and the Better Regulation Toolbox. An accompanying manual provides practical guidance on conducting fundamental rights impact assessments.

The course is hosted on the EU Academy platform and is free of charge, with certificates issued upon completion of each module. It is designed for national and European officials, legal practitioners, civil society and anyone involved in promoting and applying the Charter.
