According to the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), the European judiciary is predominantly feminine, with women comprising approximately 57% of judges and 54% of prosecutors. This trend is further reflected in the court staff functions. Looking ahead, the proportion of women is expected to increase given their significant majority in initial training nowadays. Nevertheless, men tend to occupy more leading positions, and gender biases remain in the judiciary.
This online conference aims to address the issue of gender equality in the judiciary and how training can contribute to achieving this objective. With contributions from several speakers, the conference aims to explore different approaches adopted by some European institutions, but also by some national judicial training institutions. Moreover, by featuring women who have reached high-ranking positions in the European judiciary, this conference aims to highlight concrete career paths and share inspiring advice.
The exact agenda and participating institutions will be shared one month before the event.
