For more than 30 years the Academy of European Law (ERA) has been bringing together lawyers, judges, in-house counsel and other legal practitioners from all across Europe for training in European law.
ERA runs a scholarship programme to ensure that all legal practitioners from EU Member States and candidate countries have the same opportunity to participate in professional training on European law.
ERA is now inviting applications for scholarships as a priority from the Western Balkan countries – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia – as well as Moldova and Ukraine.
The scholarship can cover up to the full costs of participation in any of ERA’s programmes. Please visit our website to view Summer Courses 2023 and other upcoming events in 2023.
Applications must be submitted at the latest two months (for face-to-face events) or one month (for online events) before the conference.
Feel free to share this information with your network or encourage friends and colleagues to contact us directly to be added to our mailing list so that more practitioners of law can benefit from ERA’s training programme.

With the generous support of the Friends of ERA Association, ERA provides scholarships to lawyers, judges, prosecutors and officials from EU member states, candidate countries and potential candidates who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend the events organised by ERA.
The scholarship may cover one or all of the following:
• the participation fees
• a contribution towards travelling expenses
• accommodation during the event
Please read through the information below carefully before you begin your scholarship application.
The target group for the scholarships is lawyers, judges, prosecutors, officials and other practitioners of law. Other professional groups, such as academics, will not normally be awarded a scholarship.
Scholarships do not apply to language courses.
Scholarships are only granted for one event and candidates who have already received a scholarship will not normally be re-awarded a grant.
Applicants should not register for an event before obtaining a decision on their scholarship application.
Successful applicants will be asked to write a report on how they made use of the scholarship in their work.
Closing date for applications:
2 months prior to the event
(for face-to-face events)
