Council of Europe

The Council of Europe is the continent’s leading human rights organization. It comprises 46 member States – of which 28 are EU Member States. All member states of the Council of Europe are signatories of the European Convention on Human Rights. North Macedonia became the 38th member State of the Council of Europe back in 1995.

In North Macedonia, the Council of Europe acts in the field of prevention of torture, fight against racism, protection of social rights, protection of the rights of minorities, fights against corruption, fight against money laundering, democracy through laws, fight against human trafficking, efficiency of the judicial system.

The Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors, as a key institution for promoting the efficiency and independence of the judicial system, has established a successful continuous cooperation with the Council of Europe, within which a large number of education events have been successfully completed.
